Olathe East High School provides students with a tremendous education in a safe and caring environment. Not only do our students learn and excel to the highest level academically, they are also quite successful in our performing arts and athletic programs. We are proud that many of our students also provide service to both our school and community. Olathe East High School was recognized as a National School of Excellence in 1998 by the U. S. Department of Education. Our tradition of excellence continues!

Test Results
Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh graders will receive their EXPLORE, PLAN, or PSAT scores back on Jan 18th and 19th. Please ask your student to see their results. To help better understand the results, you may view the appropriate test presentation below.
The Who's Tommy
Olathe East's Theater Department will be performing The Who's Tommy. Shows will be February 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at 7:30 pm with a matinee performance on the 4th at 2:00 pm. Tickets for adults are $8.00 and $6.00 for students. Order your tickets early by calling 780-7889 or email sgoreec@olatheschools.org.

OE Fashion Show Coming in February
The annual Olathe East Fashion Show, called "Evolution" will be on February 21 at 7:00 pm.

WPA
Looking for a chance to boogie the night away? Why not come to WPA! This year's theme is Neon Nights, which will be a graffiti party with black lights. The dance (women pay all) will be on February 25 from 8:00 to 11:00 pm in Olathe East's main gym. Feel free to dress up or come casual, the choice is yours!

Olathe East had 13 students selected for the 2012 All State Band. Two Olathe East Environmental Design Teams Make Top Ten
Olathe East had two teams that qualified as Top Ten
Secondary Finalists in the Burns & McDonnell Battle of the Brains Contest. The teams were selected from a pool of 560 entries from 128 different schools.
Each team won a grant of $2,500 each for Olathe East, which will be used to buy new technology for the Environmental Design program, as well as being shared with the Math and Science departments to promote S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) education. We will also share a part of the grant with the English department who worked with the students on editing their proposals and the History department who helped with vote promotions.
Congratulations to the two finalist teams. The Elements of Modern Living & Power team members are: Dylan McCune, Austin Ungerbuehler & Amanda Yeh. The Magnetic Science & Technologies Exhibit team members are: Alex Bluhm, Jake Keller & Sam Main.
First Place Team Winners
The following OE Hawks performed outstanding at the JCCC Technology Event Thursday January 12. Olathe East won the overall 6A-5A Team award scoring twice as many points as second place. Students will compete in Salina, Kansas this spring for a chance to go to nationals in Nashville, Tennessee this summer.

Program Planning Guide Cover Design Winner
Olathe East Environmental Design student Evan Deuvall’s design was chosen to be on the cover of the Olathe School District Program Planning Guide. This is the guide used by all students, parents and district personnel, to learn more about the course offerings for all four high schools in the district. Congratulations to Evan!!!
